Not every app will be able to save on the SD card. Also if you format the SD to internal it will only work on your phone unlike the portable format which you can remove and you on another device. Apps can not be downloaded direct to the SD card. The only possible exception would be to root it and then make some system level changes.

Look at the bars at the bottom of each screen to check memory used.
